Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated every year from September 15 to October 15. We celebrate the history, cultures, and contributions of individuals who are of Hispanic descent. These celebrations lasted a week when they first began in 1968. Later, in 1988 it was expanded to thirty days, and made into law on August 17, 1988. The University of Illinois celebrates these thirty days by having multiple events and presentations centered around topics relating to the history and culture of Hispanic countries.
