Alex (Yun Hyuk) Choi - AACC Intern

Alex is a senior from Seoul, South Korea, majoring in Media and Cinema Studies. He is serving as the Media and Marketing Communications Intern at the AACC this year. Having lived in three different Asian cultures growing up, Asian culture has always been his area of interest. He has been a part of Asian community clubs and organizations since middle school and is willing to continue to do so here at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, through the AACC. He is very excited to learn more about and commit to the Asian American community.

Callie Goering - AACC Intern

Callie is a senior majoring in Global Studies with a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She is a first-generation Chinese American transracial adoptee from the province Hubei. She was raised in Bourbonnais, Illinois. She has worked within the Asian American community on campus through her involvement with In Between at UIUC serving as president and founder. Callie decided to intern at the AACC because she hopes to learn more about Asian American identities, increase representation and space, and give back to the Asian American community on campus.

Kelly Liu - Poy Health and Wellness Intern

Kelly is a junior majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences on the pre-nursing track. She is Chinese-American and was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Outside of her academics, she is a part of alpha Kappa Delta Phi, an Asian-interest sorority, serving as Rush, Performance, and Publicity Chair. She is excited to be an intern for the 2022-2023 school year and hopes to learn more about the resources AACC has to offer and how to give back to the Asian community here at UIUC.

Prthivi Nese - Hermia Soo Outreach Intern

​Prthivi is a senior studying Supply Chain Management and Information Systems. She is from Buffalo Grove, IL and is on the board of Illini Fighting Hunger. Prthivi has been with the AACC for three years and has decided to intern again because she enjoys gaining new experiences, learning about her identity, and discussing important cultural events.

Caroline Munkhdelger - AACC Intern

Caroline is a sophomore studying Global Studies She is a proud Mongolian American from Willowbrook, IL. Beyond her activity in the AACC, she is an active member in the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega and takes pride in her culture through her involvement in the Mongolian Cultural Organization. She is thrilled to intern at the AACC as she looks forward to the many lessons and experiences it will unfold.

Anish Sabnis - AACC Intern

Anish is a junior majoring in Computer Engineering. He is an Indian American and is from Lemont, IL. At the University, Anish is an ELA, teaching freshmen how to be successful students. He is also part of Kappa Pi Beta, an Asian-interest fraternity, serving as service and philanthropy chair. Anish decided to intern at the AACC because he wanted to get closer to his Asian identity and help strengthen the community.

Maria Tenuta - Asian Pacific American Alumni Leadership Intern

Maria is a senior majoring in I-health with a minor in business. She is from Lemont, IL and on campus you can find her walking around as a Wellness Ambassador, attending pre-PA club meetings, and scheduling speakers as outreach chair for MSF. Maria decided to intern at the AACC because she wanted to learn more about her own identity as a Asian American and form connections with others.

Will Yepsen - AACC Intern

Will is a junior majoring in Political Science from Forsyth, IL and is a Korean American transracial adoptee. Besides interning at the AACC, Will is one of the Social Chair of In Between at UIUC and a Resident Advisor for Scott Hall. Will decided to intern at the AACC because he grew up in small town that was extremely homogenous, and he hopes to learn about different groups, meet people from all walks of life, and address issues that face the Asian American community on campus as well as across the country.

Amy Yonezawa - AACC Intern

Amy is a junior majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Microeconomics. She is a first-generation Mongolian-Japanese American who grew up in Glenview, IL. Outside of the AACC, Amy is a tutor for Upchieve, a service for low-income students to get private tutoring. She is also a part of the UIUC cooking club and loves to share recipes with her friends. As an AACC intern, she hopes to learn more about the diverse Asian American community on campus and contribute to the mission of the AACC.
