The heart of the La Casa staff are the undergraduate student staff members who plan and implement programs, create and maintain connections with the campus and community, assist in evaluation and assessment plans, and keep La Casa running smoothly. In order to create an integrated, focused and informed student staff, we ask students to contribute in the following areas:
Create and implement programs of social, political, educational, and cultural nature in collaboration with RSOs, other cultural centers, and campus units.
META (Retention Programming)
Create and implement programs to address retention and leadership at all undergraduate levels; promote personal and academic development; and develop mentorship networks among faculty, staff, and students.
Interface with community and social service leaders, coordinate outreach programs, and maintain a network of volunteers.
Create tools and prepare reports that evaluate and assess La Casa’s programs and goals.
Marketing and Publications
Develop strategies to market La Casa programs and assist with publications.
Student Internship Opportunities (Unpaid)
La Casa Cultural Latina Internship Program provides students and opportunity to undertake creative and challenging assignments that provide a greater understanding of Student Affairs and the Latina/o community. Interns will work on programs that promote the Latina/o identity and unity through educational, social, and cultural programs provided to students and members of the university and Champaign-Urbana communities.
Important Information for La Casa Student Interns
Hours are flexible according to the intern’s availability.
It is the responsibility of the intern to contact one of the professional staff if unable to complete or attend to a specific duty or project.
Student interns are also recommended to attend the student staff training and staff meetings.
