A Conversation with Anita Ortiz, Salvadorian Activist

Monday, June 27th, 12:30 pm
La Casa Cultural Latina
1203 W. Nevada
Refreshments will be served

Anita Ortiz, co-coordinator at the Christian Base Community of El Salvador (CEBES) for well over 25 years will be visiting Urbana-Champaign. She is an excellent resource for those interested in the situation in El Salvador, past and present. Her family has been well known and highly respected in El Salvador during the years of the people’s struggle for justice because her brother Ocatvio Ortiz was one of the first priests murdered by the military death squads (1979). Her other four brothers were also killed in that struggle during the 1980s. She and others at CEBES have constantly voiced the struggles of people in El Salvador. She is part of the people’s struggle movement.
