LGBT Resource Center
who we are
The mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is to foster an environment that is open, safe, and inclusive for people of all sexualities and gender identities. The Center is a resource not only for the LGBT community but for the entire University of Illinois community. The LGBT Resource Center seeks to help in the efforts to address homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and heterosexist attitudes and beliefs on the campus, and to work to make the environment safe and affirming for all students, faculty, staff, and LGBT students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois in particular. As many of you may know, with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the University of Illinois has cancelled all campus events for this semester, including those sponsored by student organizations. It is with a heavy heart that we share that all commencement ceremonies - inlcuding Lavender Congratulatory- will not be able to take place as scheduled. Turnout would violate the guidelines laid out by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and pose a health risk to attendees. The Illini Union and, effectively, the LGBT Resource Center, have been closed indefinitely. Our staff is currently working remotely and will be checking emails and messages during our normal business hours. We are not going anywhere and will continue to work to provide everything and anything we can for our students.
The LGBT Resource Center is located in room 323 of the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St.
